Safe to Park?

A girl at work has asked for suggestions where she can park closer to work than she does free or charge. The walk she does to her car now is a little dark and dubious.

There's a patch of land that at one time was a council owned car-park but is now up for sale. The local council have a for sale sign up next to the entrance but there is no other signage.

The land still has bays marked out but there is no ticket machine, barrier or any other obvious reason to not park there. Generally it seems to be ignored by people looking for free town centre parking - presumably due to the fear of a ticket.

She'll be OK to park there won't she?

Yes. Not a dodgy place. It's off a side street that I walk down to and from work that joins up with a path cutting between two NHS buildings.

Just because its up for sale it doesn't mean that its not still council owned, though the lack of signs would be fatal to any ticket there I think. There must be some kind of order like a TRO if its a council though, check it out with the council.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I'm not doubting the council still own it - the opposite in fact as the for sale sign has the council logo and telephone number on.

From the description it sounds like an ideal place for a lone woman to get mugged or worse.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

There's is a distinct possibility that the car could be liable to be towed away by the council if there is a TRO in place. Although there ought to be signage just because there is not doesn't mean they wouldn't do it !
