UK alternative to Gazelle.com

Hello,

I've heard a number of good things about Gazelle.com which buys old (in their case Apple) products.

What's good about them is that you get a guaranteed 30 day quote, so if for example you got a quote on an iPhone before a new model was launched, the price wouldn't instantly drop for the user when a new one is announced.

The problem is they're currently US only.

I know that there are a number of companies that do buy old equipment in the UK, however I'm not aware of any that lock your quote for a set period, giving a bit of grace like Gazelle does.

Also of those I've found online you generally have to fill in a form and supply your details before you get a quote. I don't want to give my details until I am happy to proceed with the transaction.

I'm not necessarily looking to sell something at the moment, but I may be looking to sell an old MacBook in the not too distant future so thought it was worth asking on here whether anyone could recommend a good company to go through.

I'd rather do something like this than sell to someone on eBay.

surely if they are locking the price, they would take into account the launch of a 'new' product during the lock period and reduce the price accordingly. Otherwise it would be a stupid business model that loses them money all the time? perhaps they are all apple users which would explain it;)
  • You forgot to mention Farewellcell, an online portal offering to buy used cell phones, tablets and electronics. They offer some of the highest prices online.
