Thumbs Down To T Mobile Pay As You Go Dongle

Just bought a T Mobile pay as you go dongle and it goes slower than a drunk snail :mad:

Anybody can advise a fast one below £30 price range ?????

Must be pay as you go.

I've had one for a couple of years and it's not sooo bad. It does depends on signal strenght and I find it works better if you have it on a lead rather than plugged directly into the lappy.

No problem with the signal. all bars show up. its just that browsing speed is very slow.

I've use a Three dongle before and t was very fast.

Lost it somewhere

Looks like time to ge a new Three dongle.

It's not just signal it depends on what type of cell you are connected to. GSM cells can only manage an "Edge" connection at best and for high speeds you need a UMTS cell which can deliver faster speeds.

This site will show your local cells - http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/

Ideally you need to be less than a km from a UMTS cell run by your operator and sometimes even a km is too far in built up areas - over open countryside they can work well OK over several km.

Three only operate UMTS cells although they can roam to Orange if there isn't one in range.
