Clysdale bank charges

I've asked the bank for statements about bank charges dated back five years. I recieved a letter telling me as there was a backlog I'll have to wait. I'm still being charged £35 pounds a time. So how long should I wait before demanding a statement. I feel their just playing for time and Im getting frustrated and poorer by the minute. What should I do?
