Would have helped if you'd said what software you were trying to use to do this with initially.
But it looks like job done now anyway.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • It looks like you have got this sorted but none of these have actually -removed the background'. Changing background to white would be fine on something with a white background but if you were to put the image on top of any other colour you couldn't.

I had a quick play with it and here is the image with no background (ie. transparent) As this forum skin shows posts with a white background it looks white but see the screenshot below it where you can see there is no background at all. It's a bit rough round the edges as I didn't spen much time on it but hey to do it properly I would have to bill you :)

The free package paint.net can also do this, however it is often more of the smartness of the user, than the smartness of the tool that produces great results..

    Think the website is getpaint.net????

It will do but using the same way as the 'trace' tool in photoshop. Basically 'cutting out' the image from the background.

Even though this is relatively easy for anyone to do, it is definitely worth investing (or downloading...) photoshop or similar. I have this anyway for work but it is amazing how much you will use it and for something like this, spend 15 minutes on an image like this and it is the click of a couple of buttons.
