Can I use 3 credit cards to pay for one purchase?

I'm about to make a large purchase for which I have saved 2/3rds of the cost. I have been looking at taking out a 0% on purchase credit card but noticed that the credit limit of these cards are 1200 and I need 3500. Would it be acceptable to apply for 3 of these 0% credit cards and pay 100 to each of them every month. I have a good credit rating and can afford to pay 300 every month. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

As long as the retailer agrees, yes.
As long as you are accepted for the cards.0 -

If you haven't applied yet how do you know what your limit is going to be? I think the £1200 mentioned is normally for illustrative purposes to show you how the interest would work.0 -
Yep.. and when it goes wrong, s75 means you can go after all of them. (You can claim the full amount off each of them, though can't double recover.)0

You could do this if the retailer accepts it
As others have said though, £1,200 is a fairly low limit so unless you are looking at sub prime cards then the ceiling is likely to be much higher (though how much you are offered is dependent on your personal circumstances). As an example I recently applied for and got a Capital One and Nationwide CC with a £7,500 limit on the first and £5,000 on the second.0 -
If you get the cards, yes. But - many retailers can only take one card per transaction. I used to work in an electrical store where the POS system could take a part cash/card payment - but the cash first, and then the balance from one card. You'd need to check with the retailer, if it's a small place with a PDQ machine then you're ok - but bigger places with full till systems might not be able to force a multi-card payment.0
