Buyers paying more for auction then bin

I've got another item now on Auction, that I also have on BIN. Nobody is buying the BIN, but when I have put it on auction, I have twice now got nearly double my BIN price. Does the other one not show up in the search. Suppose it's good for me, but silly for the buyers.

trouble is, everyone loves a bargain or what they perceive will be a bargain, so invariably bidders will always be interested in the lowest starting price and then the BIN disappears.
I collect a certain type of vintage jewellery. I was watching a brooch start at a £125 with no bidders. The buyer then started it at 99p and everyone went mad and bid it up to £225. :eek:Saving money right, left and centre0 -
yup as above you will pick up lots of watchers on a low start-lots of watchers is a potential for lots of bidders.
However playing this game can be risky as you find you will always get a lucky bidder now and again who does get it cheap!0 -
I've now had 5 lowish value items that have been relisted many times suddenly attracting bids, all the same day, almost all different bidders in each case... bizarre!
I'm wondering if some folk have had a little success listing their buy-it-nows this weekend and feeling flush with money in their Paypal account, have gone on a short spending spree?"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

I have to say I usually get less on auction than BIN - which is why 99% of my items are BIN - I do auctions to drive traffic to my site or to get rid of stock that has not shifted.0
