If it does not say that it is a deed, then it cannot be a deed. It doesn't necessarily have to say "executed as a deed" as far as I know, but it must be clear that it is a deed. If it does not mention "deed" anywhere then it is not a deed and is unenforceable.0

This is quite correct. The definition (from statute - S2 (a) of the Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provision) act 1989 - I'll get my coat:D) is
"(a)it makes it clear on its face that it is intended to be a deed by the person making it or, as the case may be, by the parties to it (whether by describing itself as a deed or expressing itself to be executed or signed as a deed or otherwise); "
So if it does not mention the word deed then it probably isn't one.0
