Hotpoint SY36X no longer heats

Hi ,
I have a Hotpoint SY36K fitted , and it no longer heats. The fan comes on as expected and the lights and everything are on, there is just no heat.
If I switch it to grill only then it works ok.
I took the back cover off ( that covers the fan ) and the circular heating element , appears to be split , is this the likely cause? I don't really want to pay for someone to look at it if it is , as I can repair that myself.
Thanks for any comments, guidance.
It was the cooker element , for anyone that reads this in the future.
