Where did you get your chestnuts from please, my local Asda dont have them and as I am feeling really rough dont want to trail round looking.
Got them from local market Meg. Thought I saw some in Te$co, I'm off there at lunch to see if I can pick up a 'jingle bell':(. It's only a small one but if they have chestnuts there, then they should in most stores. It's not Christmas without having an oven covered in exploded chestnuts and burnt fingers!Grocery challenge:December 2022 £151.96/£400 . Advent decluttering challenge 47/240.0 -
Hi everyone,
karen - so sorry to hear your news - sending (((hugs)))
I have just got back from meeting a friend. She wanted to get some food from M&S (she spent over £130 on 'goodies' for her small family ). I saw their fresh turkeys and decided to go for it and get one now, also a bottle of port, a pack of nice stuffing and some fresh cranberry sauce. Total of £70.99 to add to budget. Last year's stuffed fresh turkey from the butcher was £62 and was a lot smaller, so feeling okayish about the purchase
We have friends over on Saturday and I'm working my last Christmas shift at B**ts (thank the lord, hating every minute) on Sunday so the purchase today will mean I only need veggies now, plus a bottle of bucks fizz for Christmas morning
Hope everyone else is doing okay

Karenccs67 - Sorry to hear about your loss.
Made my sausage rolls and mince pies yesterday. Had some sausage meat left so turned it into a sausage plait with a grated onion and some chopped leeks and a few herbs which we had for tea last night with some veg. Very nice and a small slice left which DH had for lunch today.
Today have been to A!di and Te$co and total is now standing at £125.37 so still on target and don’t have to much more to get. Have brought everything that will keep up to and just past the day but the best I could find date wise on pork pies was the 24th - so will get one of these on Saturday and also the last few bits. Will certainly come in under my target but will wait to see on the final figure.
Am waiting delivery on a couple of internet purchases and then that’s me done - EXCEPT haven’t yet wrapped a thing!!! So that’s on the list for this weekend.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
The January thread is up!
Its been fun being keeper of the recipes for the last few years, and I’ve found some great ones to add to my scrapbook. However, its time to pass it on and from January Bluegreen is taking over. She will also pick up any recipes posted after today and add them to the January index.
I know you’ll give her all the support you’ve given to me and I hope she’ll enjoy it as much as I have.
I’ll be spending less time online for a while, but I’ll be looking in from time to time to see how you all are, meantime take care of those pennies!
Have a Great Christmas!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

No spends today
Made roasted veg & pine nut pasta with a tomato sauce, did take a picture but it was all blurry. Also made mango chutney for my hampers, and then spent the evening assembling hampers and cleaning the flat. Knackered now! Tomorrow's my last day at work though
Many thanks to Rosieben for all her work in updating the index and I'm honoured to have a shot at it, will try my hardest not to miss anything!!Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

eeeeeeeeeeeek have just added up all 'track able' (ie debit card) food spending this month:( a grand total of £356.13 although there is a £98 spend included that was at a garden centre and included some Christmas presents and nearly £40 worth of meat for Christmas, still that's wayyyyyy over my budget
hmm, it's the first time I've added it up properly so I guess i underestimated how much I spend
ho hum, don't need to do another food shop now except for a few bits like milk and bread...thank goodness
will have to thing about what to budget for next month...def need to reduce my spending on food!!!Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0
