Laptop power lead not working following MS update

Following MS update yesterday, the laptop power lead doesn't work, also, the kaspersky desktop icon is no loger showing on the desktop :wall:

I have a Compaq, windows 7, IE8
I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you

    Must be coincidence as I can't see how the MS Update could affect the power supply to your laptop.

    First things to check:
    • Plug is fully inserted into mains socket
    • Socket is switched on
    • Mains lead is fully inserted into power adapter
    • LED on power adapter is lit
    • Plug is fully inserted into laptop
    • Fuse in mains plug
