New Freezer

Options
I desperately need a new freezer as there's a problem with the door. I've been told that you have to wait 24 hrs before a new freezer is set up properly. My question is what to I do with the frozen food for the 24 hours? There's alot of food in my freezer and I can't afford to let it go to waste.

(Apologies if this is in the wrong section)
Low carbing vegetarian. Aiming for 50-100g carbs per day

When I had to get a new freezer I ate as much of the food as possible and then asked a neighbour if I could put anything remaining in their freezer.

Keep it in the old freezer until your new one is at required temp then swop food over?:)

    You can't imagine what I'm thinking:D

The freezer only needs leaving if it has been tipped on it's side, if it's a chest freezer that shouldn't happen. And even if it's an upright it still shouldn't happen.

Can't you (OP) stand the freezer near the old 1 and simply swap them over the next day?????????????

    edited to say;

(apologies to hasbeen, we both have the obvious answer)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Yes, I thought the same when I re-read it.

I assume the OP hasn't got the room for 2 freezers so will be getting rid of the old one when the new one is delivered.

It will probably be tipped on a trolley when it is being delivered.

Yes, it seems likely that the OP has arranged for the company they have bought the new one from to take the old one away. If that is the case then your best bet as others have suggested is to ask a friend/relative.neighbour if they wouldn't mind you storing it with them for a while.

This is where friends come in then, most folks, certainly us, are running the contents of the freezer down in preparation for the xmas onslaught and so have space available.
A sealed bag out to all friends and relatives should do the job?

And this is without offence OP, if you took the meat content out of our freezer it would leave little left.
Reading your signature, what does a "Low carbing vegetarian. Aiming for 50-100g carbs per day"keep in the freezer?

Unless you are buying vedge in bulk or growing your own maybe you don't actually need a new freezer?

But then again I assume there is a carnivorous family in the background.

Again, I'm just looking at it from a total MSE position based on info supplied.;);)

Thanks to everyone for replying. Unfortunately, I don't have the room for two freezers so I'll ask some of my neighbours/family if they could could store some of. Thanks for all your suggestions ;)

My partner is a vegetarian and our freezer is full of bags of frozen veg (sweetcorn, carrots, peas, green beans etc) and lots of quorn/ tesco meat free things like veggie mince, veggie burgers etc. For that reason I can easily see why the OP has need of a freezer, ours is pretty big and is bursting.

Like I said, based on info supplied, ie the OP could have been solo.

Just covering the MSE angle;);) :D
