I use google chrome and it changed as they removed background pics today. No problem with that but then I noticed it said I wasn't signed in, (no idea if I am ever signed in ) so I did and now the browser looks like the very old comp we have including the book marks from there. So signed out and it still looked the same. Tried system restore and it's no different.
I've lost all the book marks I use on a daily basis and others I've collected over the last 18 months, I'm gutted and also stuffed as 3 things I'm knitting at present were found on blogs which I'd never be able to find again along with many many others.
Can I get back my old bookmarks that were there when I got up or am I stuffed?

Sounds like you have signed in to your Google account and enabled the feature to synchronise bookmarks, and the old PC had this done to it previously. Does this sound familiar?
Try this? http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/JqmZOock9L40 -

Oh dear, seems that's right. I have done as the link said and got a google message saying no further changes will be made but I'm stuck with whats there now basically.
I've never set anything up to sync wouldn't know how to but at least I now know it won't happen again.
Do wish it had a revert to before you sync'd setting then I'd get my bookmarks back0 -
thats good forum link, I found this:
I managed to restore my bookmarks from backup by performing the following steps.
Make sure you have a valid backup first. Bookmarks are stored in /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Bookmarks
- Go to Chrome settings and choose "Disconnect Your Google Account"
- Go to the Google Dashboard: https://www.google.com/dashboard/
- Under "Chrome Sync" choose to reset sync and delete all data
- Close Chrome
- Copy the bookmark file from the backup and overwrite the current bookmark file
- Open Chrome - your bookmarks should be back
Took me 20 mins but I've found them using windows search.
I need the idiots guide to the red bit above please0 -
Drag and drop has sort of worked, now I have the ones I wanted mixed in with the ones it sync'd.
Thanks Bod, couldn't have found them with out the link you provided.0
