Help needed..am I loosing out???

Bought Lloyd tsb shares on Thursday morning at 45.93p since then by close of business on Friday it dropped to 43.98. According to the news on Friday morning it says that RBS and LLOYDS TSB taxpayers Will loose out by roughly £60bn invested. Does that mean the shares will start to drop value over next few days and I should sell them as I invested £2000 in them and value has already dropped to £1870??

Why did you buy them? Was it as a short term punt to sell out as soon as you made money? Or because you think they are a good long term buy and hold?

What has changed since you bought them to affect your view? (other than the MPs report which was stating the obvious anyway!) Is this your only savings or investment? Only you know why you bought them but if they were my only savings I would be selling.

If you aren't comfortable to see fluctuations in value then shares may not be the best place to put money.

How long did you intend to invest for?

Sure, they may well go down further, but over the next 12 months, they might increase beyond what you paid for them. Its a roller coaster ride and you have to take the rough with the smooth!

For example, I bought some in June this year, I think they were about 25 pence or something around then, so it looks like I've made a profit of about 80% if I can sell them now, but if I leave them, there's always the possibility they'll be higher next year.

I hold some Lloyds at an average of around 30p and am expecting to see 60p-70p once they restart dividends. However, the only think you have ever guarantee about share prices is that they will go both up and down!
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.
