Labrador Neck Size - Please could someone measure?

I want to get my in-laws some of these collars for their three black labs for Christmas (so they can see them when they charge off across the fields in the dark). I don't want to ask them to measure their necks as that would spoil the suprise, so wonder whether any lab owners here might be able to give me an idea, please? They have three, two on the large side and one smallish one.
The collars have some adjustability so it wouldn't need to be precise but not sure whether to go for Large (45 - 52cm) or X-Large (52 - 60cm).
Thank you very much!
PS - the collars are absolutely brilliant, my black pug has one for evening winter walks and I wouldn't be without it

My Rottie x is about a small Lab size and wears a 17" collar. So does my male GSD (taller, but slimmer around the neck - I imagine Labs probably have a similar chunky neck to Rotts) so would take a Large. I would say the larger Labs may need the next size up though.0

Word of warning with these (have had labs for nearly 30 years!)
Labs (as others have said) have quite chunky necks - to get the collars sitting comfortably on the neck, often means that it's bigger than their head and they slip off really easily ...... unlike in the pic (is that your pug, he's gorgeous!) where you can see the collar sitting behind the head and it's obviously not going to come off.
We've always had to get collars like this:
These are brilliant as they can be comfy / loose around the neck but will tighten if the dog pulls.
Depends where they live and whether it would matter if the dogs slipped their collars or not. HTHGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thanks for all the feedback - think I'll get 2 XL and one Large.
Rising - they'd just be added for when they go outside in the dark and would keep their normal collars on for attaching the lead to (as we do with our pug; in fact he has his collar with tags, harness and the LED collar!) The eBay feedback suggests the stitching on the collar comes undone if pulled on, so I'd definitely only use them for visual assistance, not for functioning as the sole means of 'tethering'.0
