Car windscreen wet on inside?

Car windscreen was wet/damp on the inside this morning, i know it was cold out last night, and had frost on the roof and bonnet til the sun come up onto it, what causes this misting/smearing effect on the inside of the windscreen?

Thanks

Is it parked over a puddle or drain?

I have the same problem - not only does it mist up really badly each morning, but during winter my windscreen actually freezes on the inside and I end up having to scrape it every morning which really does nothing to lift my mood before work :)

I've been reading that it is moisture in the car plus the wax in cleaning solutions previously used that can cause it, so I've cleaned mine with a mix of white vinegar, bit of liquid handsoap to cut through the wax and warm water.

It seems to be better, though I might have to give it another go as still a bit of misting going on.

    Not sure if that helps.

what car have you got and what's the age of it?
  • If you get condensation inside your car, then chances are your pollen filter is blocked/knackered.

I had this problem with my Astra, and once it was replaced the problem disappeared overnight.

  • I find this helps considerably if left permanently the car until re-generation is required. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SILICA-GEL-COLOUR-CHANGE-FOR-CAMERA-ETC-400-GRAM-BAG-/271078771457?pt=UK_Packaging_Materials&hash=item3f1d8dcb01

Cheers everyone, I dont park over a puddle or drain, but car is left locked for a week or more sometimes without being used.

Pollen filter was changed 2 years ago, is it worth doing again just in case? Aircon is never on (we live in UK remember :D )

    What causes condensation?

    Thanks again everyone
