Hubby & I had DGD1 yesterday afternoon. She was up & dressed at 6:30 waiting to be collected at 1! I collected her early, lol. We took her to the fish shop to choose another fish for our tank, she wanted a pink one, but was happy with a couple of black mollies to go with the white ones we have.
We also took her to the garden center to see the winter scene, with moving reindeer & polar bears, hubby bought her a headband with bells on and a flashing red nose, that and the fish only cost £5, so it was cheap entertainment as she reduced us to hysterics many times.
Today's plans include some ironing, making DGS a pair of pyjamas out of a bigger pair.
Roast Chicken for lunch, I need to make it last all week, so today it will be served with yorkies, stuffing balls, roast pots & veg from the garden.
    Have a lovely day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Morning all,
Elaine sorry to hear about hubby, but cars can be fixed or replaced, people can't!

DD's 26th birthday today, so going to lunch with her SIL and DGD. Frankie & Benny's cos I have a voucher:rotfl:

Cold but bright here, so should be a good day.
Had a jacket potato and beans last night. It was so big I couldn't eat it all!

Washing on at the moment. Had croissants and coffee for breakfast, now going to read the papers. Lazy day for me.

    Have a good day all!

    Morning everyone!

Cold and frosty here in the Midlands. Going to do some ironing shortly and then prep the veg for lunch. Made a pie yesterday along with cookies and fairy cakes (for lunch boxes, if they last that long!!).

OH is decorating our bedroom with paint he bought using his nectar card, only cost him £1.34. Hopefully we can move back into our room later once its done.

Then it will be getting stuff ready for work tomorrow. If I can fit in a run in our treadmill I will, haven't run for 2 weeks and really need to get back to it!

Hoping my OH hears about a job next week - he's feeling very despondent. He's applied for nearly 20, so fingers crossed. Meanwhile he's hoping to get some temp driving work from 3 agencies he signed up with last week.

Have a good day everyone! You are such a friendly cheery bunch:T

elaine - sorry to hear about the car, glad OH is ok. Enjoy the Bham xmas market, I love it there, it's the first year in awhile that I won't be going to it.

I have also been thinking of the lady who posts from Israel? I can not remember her name
Molly - it's Shalva. I've been thinking about her too. I checked her profile, she hasn't posted since Aug, but was active on MSE yday.

Brrrr it's chilly here this morning! My phone says it's -2 and there's frost on the ground. Looks like it may be a nice day though. Which is a little annoying as I fancied a day in the house, but really should go out and enjoy the sunshine :rotfl:.

Nothing planned for today. I need to do some NVQ work. My assessor is coming tomorrow and I cancelled him cos I was meant to be recouperating from op, but now I'm not so will be back in work. He sees 5 of us so will still be coming, and I haven't done the work! I know he's not expecting it from me as such but I feel like I should at least do some of it. I will watch the F1 highlights later, and Strictly/I'm A Celeb.

OS wise - I need to tidy/hoover/put laundry away cos despite me saying it all week it's still not done! :o. HM curry for tea from freezer. I may bake a cake.

    Have a good day all

    Nippy here as well.
Elaine I am glad to hear that hubby is ok, that is the main thing, cars can be replaced, but people can't be x

Just about to put dinner in the oven, we are having lamb today, I found a leg of lamb in the freezer yesterday while I was trying to bring all the Christmas stuff to the top, so I can see what I need to get, truth is I don't need to buy much more, I even have the HM yorkshire puds, HM roasties, brussels, carrots, and parsnips all prepared for Christmas day :D I have to make a few gateau, sausage rolls, quiche and mince pies over the next couple of weeks and freeze them and I can relax until I make the gingerbread Christmas week.
That reminds me I need to give my cake a few slugs of brandy today :D

I am planning on a quite afternoon knitting

Oh well onwards and upwards BFN x

    Hi all

Busy morning here; the back garden has been poo-picked, Jessie has been walked and the poo from the garden deposited in the local poo-bin,;) Shepherd Spy and cherry crumble have both been constructed, the BM is on, large quantities of coffee have been consumed, and I'm cream crackered!

Elaine sorry to hear about your DH's accident; but pleased that he's OK.

Tiglath wow, your decluttering is going on a-pace! Well done!:T

Molly I can just imagine your Westies having fun in the frost:D – Jessie wanted to play outside earlier; I had to make her come in, as I was freezing!

Hoppy Birdday to Hilstep's DD – hey, we had jacket spuds with beans for dins yesterday, too!:D

Louby tell DH to keep his chin up; it's awful applying for jobs, and half the time they don't even bother to acknowledge the application:mad: – Mr LW has been through this mill, so we know how it is. Keep at it, and try not to get too despondent.:o

I made a load of Xmas puds last week; four, to be precise.:D There's only us two; we don't have guests at all, but we both like it as a winter pud, so we can have it every so often throughout the cold months.;) Each pud is enough for eight servings, so I've made enough for a total of 16 meals for the two of us.:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • LW - are xmas puds hard to make? never thought of making one before, but I do love an xmas pud :D

Just back from a walk/jog. It's a lovely crisp and sunny day outside. I'm going to have a quick shower, then breakfast (though I guess it's lunch now!) and then go for a stroll on the beach I think.

Flutterby the one I do is exceptionally easy - it's a microwave recipe!:D I adapt it for our particular taste (neither of us much cares for currants, so I put in extra raisins and sultanas to make up the weight, for instance); I use vegetarian suet; it takes just 20 mins cooking time - 5 mins cooking, followed by 5 mins standing, then repeat these.:D

For serving, as it's just us two, I cut the portions, put them in microwaveable dishes, add a splish of ale (the extra liquid helps) and hot them up for eating.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
