Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 17th November 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Dreadful nights sleep and I have been up since 2am
.
Hubby had a car accident yesterday and my car isnt looking too great. Fortunately he is ok. :(Timing is bad as I have a lot on which includes the need to get places.
On a brighter note I intend taking my younger children to see the german market in Birmingham and will pop on the bus for that. Also hope to put a couple of items on ebay to start making some pocket money. Youngest son is 10 in december and with little spare cash, I could do with saving into ebay/paypal account to get bits for him.
I hope everyone is ok and send big hugs to anyone needing one. Keep warm, safe and happy folks. Might pop back later,God willing. xx

Good Morning Elaine & all to follow
Sorry to hear about the accident Elaine but at he wasn't injured.
Been MIA recently, things have just been mad here. Really trying to get back into routine - at the start of every week I think - nothing much happening this week I will get loads done - then everything changes and nothing gets done.
Anyway am up early this morning so I can get a few bits done before I take DS to football. DW emptied and washing machine on the first of many washes. Just about to wipe the kitchen down then clean the bathrooms. OH is going to hoover the house and wash all the floors while I am at football :j Must remember my thermals - its cold out there today.
Have a leg of lamb just about to go in the slow cooker, if it fitswill be roast with all the trimming today and hopefully will get a couple of stews out of it too.
Hope everyone is ok (((hugs))) wherever needed.x0 -
Morning all - Elaine, glad your hubby's okay but boo about the car. Enjoy the German market - I love stollen.
A quiet weekend here - DH and I trundled out shopping with the list and the wally-trolley. I was surprised by the lack of crowds, given that we're getting close to Christmas. My lamb stew wasn't very nice yesterday; although I cooked it in the crockpot from lunchtime, it still ended up being tough. I should've bought the lamb the day before and done it on a lower setting for longer, but there you go. My first attempt at making dumplings from scratch turned out very well, and DH has requested that we have them often. Our local butcher does goat @ £3.49/kg so that's on the agenda as the next stew; I'll tell Mum it's lamb until after she's eaten it. Roast pork with trimmings today, and I'll whizz up a lemon drizzle cake for dessert.
Much laundry planned for today. Yesterday I went through years of DH's paperwork, with his permission, and shredded a big black bag full. Today I'm culling old shoes. The baking cupboard is becoming a priority as it's where I store my spuds in the dark. Chucked out some weevilled flour yesterday; I dread to think what else is lurking. I'm taking the first 2 weeks in January off and I think I'll be at the decluttered stage where I can actually get straight on with springcleaning instead of having to cull stuff first. I'm actually amazed at the decluttering progress we've made since August; I'd estimate we're 70% done.

Good morning all,
Elaine, sorry to hear of your hubbys accident. Glad he is ok.
It's a bit chilly here today. I don't intend to go out. Still got ironing to do as i didn't get too much of it done yesterday. It feels like i'm getting a cold. I ache all over. I hope i can nip it in the bud and get rid of it.
I need to get some baking done today. I will get that done when the roast potatoes go in at lunch time. Chicken for lunch with all the trimmings. We are still eating our hg veg from the freezer and our hg potatoes which we put in sacks. We are on the last sack now though.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning everyone,
Elaine Glad OH is ok.
LW, Molly, Hilstep Hugs for you.
Up early this morning to take DD2 to a netball match, I am going to have to scrape the ice off the car.
She finished the cross country yesterday and said she was never doing it again, 5 mins later on the way home she was asking when the next one was and was she able to go!
DD1 has a Duke of Edinburgh walk this morning and DS is playing rugby. Lots of early morning activity in our house.
Last night we took grandma out for a curry, not very OS but very nice.
Full roast and all the trimmings tonight.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

Have a good day xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Good morning everyone
Brrr it's a chilly one today but it's better than yesterday's rain.
In work this afternoon so need to get a few things done this morning. Ironing never got done yesterday and OH got puff pastry out of the freezer to make pies then decided he didn't have time to do it. I put it back in the fridge so I hope it's ok for today.
I cut my own hair again yesterday, having decided if it's too short to be tied up, I may as well go even shorter. Now it's shoulder length and feels much more manageable but I coloured it too, to cover up the grey, and it's darker than I expected so I hope the colour comes out a bit. Oh well, it would have all cost me a fortune at the hairdressers so I can console myself with that
Am very sorry to hear about OH and car Elaine. Does your insurance cover a replacement car while you get repairs done?
OK I must get the iron switched on and get going. Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning everyone,up at silly o'clock this morning, joints are a bit achy but then old age is a bit of a nuisance when the weather gets a bit damper.
Looking out of the window at the moment it looks as though its going to brighten up a bit later.I have changed the bed so I can bung the lot into the washing machine and hopefully it will get a bit of a blow on the line.Yesterday I made a large Victoria sponge cake and two dozen choc chip cookies and a dozen coconut biscuits and some flapjacks This morning I will make a lemon drizzle cake and a fruit cake and that should be the cake tins for myself and my two DDs sorted for a little while.
The house smells like a bakery at the moment:):) but sis-in-law will be here at lunchtime and she likes HM cakes as she says its not worth making them just for herself !!! don't know why, as I dislike shop cake as its so expensive and no where near as nice, but then I love baking and cooking but she's not keen on that either:) Her hobby is her garden which always looks lovely compared to mine which is not great as I can no longer bend very well to do much out there .I have a lovely chap who comes and mows the lawn for me and a few bulbs in pots but thats about all.
My sis-in-laws garden always looks amazing and I feel sure she cuts the lawn with nail scissors:) as its so perfect.Still we can't all be good at everything.I will pack up some HM cake for her to take home with her which I know she enjoys so much and its no bother for me as I love to feed folk
:)
I have some parsnips in the fridge that I think I will turn into veggie soup with some other bits of past-their best veg thats lurking in there.I finished off the last of the potato and leek soup yesterday and it was delicious.I love soup and crackers for lunch and its so cheap to make.
Right well its time to toddle for some breakfast, Some museli and chopped banana for energy then its a bit more baking and a large pot of coffee while I listen to The Archers my Sunday morning treat while I'm cooking .
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Take care and stay safe

Morning all,
Sharp frost here this morning, but bright and sunny, have the big throw from the sofa in the wash, and will put our bedding in after.
Going to run dd to work in a while and come back and have a shower, hoover through house and mop, OH can help with this, I then need to run to Mr T to get my mum a birthday present, and nip in and see my dad at lunchtime.
Hopefully this afternoon I can list some more ebay sales, and pack this weeks ones up ready to post.
I had ordered some spare ribs for dinner for OH and I, there is about 2 in the packet, and OH would eat at least 6 :rotfl:, so need to re think, I have some soup from yesterday, and some mushrooms that need eating, so might so garlic mushrooms on toast and soup.
Hopefully this afternoon I can have a sit down and relax, but dont hold your breath.
Molly my dd is 18 a few days after your ds x
Elaine thank god dh was ok xx
Have good days all xx0
