ok what should i do now?

i sent the second letter to halifax detailing how much they've charged me and included a print out of my statements from my online banking statement of the charges, and i recieved a letter this morning saying they're looking into my claim and that they have 8 weeks to investigate the claim (they said its the rules from the financial services authority) and they'll keep me updated on the progress if they are unable to respond fully within the next 4 weeks.

do i just sit and wait patiently now?

Ignore them and stick to the timetable.

ok i'm in the middle of writing the letter threatening to take the bank to court and i need some more advice, i was originally going to give them the 8 weeks or so because i dislike being confrontational to anyone regardless of the circumstances but unfortunatly last week halifax decided to charge me an additional £28 charge for being overdrawn for 1 month and interest on the overdraft (despite me paying it off in full) and needless to say i was a little tiny bit annoyed, what i want to know is can i add that additional charge to my previous amount or would i have to file a seperate claim?

Yes, you can, just say in the letter that that's what you are doing so. Have you issued the Letter Before Action yet? Or is that what you're doing now?
