HELP..
We have a judgement by default issued by CC against BOS, My wife rang them asking for our money, as the order said payment FORTHWITH....the staff memeber we spoke to said, we'll do it within 14 days as we're allowed that time by law.
Am I missing something but doesnt forthwith mean right away without delay/excuse ?.
Any suggestions, anything I can quote to the BOS, I know the bailiffs is a bit of a issue as they are snowed under at the moment.
A memebr of the court staff said "tell them..if the judge was going to allow them 14 days to pay, he would have stipulated that on the judgement.."! (good enough for me..

A quick google tells me:
forthwith - Bouvier's Law Dictionary, Revised 6th Ed (1856) :
FORTHWITH. When a thing is to be done forthwith, it seems that it must be performed as soon as by reasonable exertion, confined to that object, it may be done. This is the import of the term; it varies, of course, with every particular case. 4 Tyr. 837; Styles' Register, 452, 3.
Given that it is the payment of monies that is the 'object' this can reasonably be done immediately, its a simple transaction for the bank. I'd visit the local branch with the judgement details and ask to see the manager immediately and take it from there. A call may be neccessary to Head Office to authorise the payment but I dont see why they couldnt do it there and then for you.
