Asus X401 laptop - Windows 7 or 8

I want to buy the Asus X401 as the screen size and spec are good for my needs. Should I buy one with Windows 8 preinstalled or go forvWindows 7 which I know and then upgrade to Windows 8 when it is more established.

These are the ones I have been looking at

Thanks

Personally wouldn't touch 8 AT LEAST till the first Service Pack has been released, and even then will it have advantages ON A LAPTOP over 7 ?? - I doubt it very much...but it's your money and choice...

Windows 8 is an eyesore, and the user interface is a confused mish-mash consisting of a mobile phone front-end bolted onto a desktop PC.

It is so clearly intended for touch screens that some of the dialogs (eg. when you insert a DVD) ask you to "Tap here", which is the wrong metaphor for a PC/laptop.

The home screen is a replacement for the "Start" menu that looks like it came from noddy land and takes up a whole screen; one poster in another thread on the topic recommended having a separate monitor to display it. Great - you have to buy another monitor dedicated to displaying the start menu!
