What counts as hospital admission?

I've had a couple of forms lately which ask when I was last admitted to hospital. I went to A&E in the summer and was discharged after a few hours, and then spent a few weeks going to the day unit at the hospital (for mental health issues). Do they count as hospital admissions or just treatment?
TIA.
TIA.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I'm pretty sure an admission is when you're an in-patient (spending a night +). If you're just going for daily appointments, you're classed as an out-patient and are therefore not actually admitted into the hospital.
In regards to A&E trips, it would only count as an admission if you were kept in.
I could be wrong and that could've made no sense, forgive me. Late night typing.

For DLA an admission that counts as a stay is more than one night in a hospital ward/unit.
Overnight admissions are not included and neither are day patient appointments.
Although, I've found it is useful to keep full records of when you have attended outpatients/day appointments to demonstrate that you have been assessed medically as needing treatment on a regular basis above and beyond self management at home.
I'm afraid I don't know if this is the case for other benefit departments.0 -
Thanks, that's really helpful. It's not for benefits, one was for insurance and the other was for medical rehousing.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
