Can you NPB a cash on collection item

As the title says I've sold a heavy Snap On tool box collection only item. I haven't heard from the winning bidder even though I've sent him emails asking when he is going to collect item.
As it's a cash on collection item can I instigate a NPB? I have searched on Ebay for answers but can't find anything.

Yes you can but it is a bit of a two edged sword. The only way the buyer can stop it proceeding is to pay using PayPal which leaves you in a difficult position as you lose the ability to negotiate for cash in collection.
It's a gamble we all take when we keep our fingers crossed for cash on collection
As for why there is nothing clearly stated in the eBay help pages it is because of course a seller cannot insist on cash on collection and can only offer it alongside PayPal. A buyer always has the right to use paypalI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for your reply Soolin.
I want the tool box gone because I have 2 more to sell. I used to be a mechanic, I'm keeping my tools but selling the tool boxes.
I suppose I could leave a neg if he doesn't pay in the next couple of days. He's a new user with no feedback.0 -

Good luck with the neg - only buyers can leave them.
This is Ebay - buyers have you by the short & curlies.0 -
Same problem here.
Most of my sales are cash on collection only. Twice now i have had non payers/collectors.
I just put a NPB as normal. Sometimes the muppet buyer pays with Paypal, i then refund when they collect and insist on cash.0 -

It might be worth using ebay a little, on a low level just to familiarise yourself with any changes that have occured in the past few years. Starting to sell with a collection only item is possibly not a good idea as it leaves you open to all sorts of issues.
The fact that you hadn't realised sellers couldn't leave a neg shws you haven't used ebay for a good few years. Tool boxes might well be better on Gumtree where you can insist on cash.david29dpo wrote: »Same problem here.

Um, surely the muppet is the person who doesn't realise that a seller cannot insist on cash on collection? When a buyer goes through checkout, or gets an NPB the default payment is always paypal.
Worse case scenario is that you refund the paypal payment and buyer walks away from sale, possibly leaves you a neg and does a non performing seller complaint as well. You also get stuck with all your fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you dont file a NPB the buyer can neg you but you cannot neg them.
You can leave them a positive with negative comments but you will get a black mark on your account and they can get it removed easily.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I've been selling on Ebay for a few years only not consistently just as and when I have a clear out. I just forgot you can't leave a neg. Also wasn't sure if a cash only collection item you could do a NPB.0 -

As per my original response there is no such thing as a 'cash only on collection' , all auctions (apart from cars) are paypal auctions with cash being offered as an alternative if buyer wishes.
So again as above, you gamble on doing an NPB knowing that buyer must then use paypal if he wants to cancel the dispute.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
