Samsung X05 Laptop problems

Options
Hi,

Has anyone else had problems with their samsung laptops, specifically the X05 or X10?

Ive had to replace my hard drive twice and no-one...not even pc-world know what is wrong with it!

Ive read some stuff about the hard drive connector to the motherboard coming loose but I dont know how to access it and whether I will damage it with static etc...PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

There could be any reason why the drives keep failing it all depends what the problems you were having.

    A few questions
    How old is the laptop?
    Who replaced the hard drives?

If you suspect there to be a fault witht the laptop it isnt your problem that PC world cant come up with a solution. Did you buy it from PCW? If you did they there responsibility is to provide you with a working product within the period of the warrenty, if it goes faulty you take it back to the supplier and they sort it out you shouldnt need to go relpaceing the drive yourself. If they cant fix it they should provide you with working laptop.

If you have damged the drive connector on the board then you need to persuade PCW or whoever you bought it from that you didn't damage it.

Ohh and as for is there a fault with the x05 laptops I have done a quick search but came up with nothing, normally you will find multiple people with the same querry but not this time.

The likelihood is that there is a panel on the bottom of the laptop, size wise about 3-4 inches long by 2.5 inches. The laptop will be hiding behind it, you will need to remove the drive but they normally connect direct to the motherboard rather than use a cable. I have seen some that use an adaptor kind of connection but most of the time the drive is in a caddy type thing and it just slides in to place.

If there is a cable I expect that it will be a very fine ribbon cable, you will need to be very carefull not to damage it. I expect it may be oxidisation or something on the contacts.

As there are others with the same problem you could contact the seller claiming that it was inherently faulty which is covered buy the sales of goods act.
