Could I suggest for those worried about bring disadvantaged by possibly misleading claims against them, that they get a Car DVR (at a cost of around £50) and let this record all the activity whilst mobile, it provides a witness along with GPS log, G-Sensor, and video.

Right up until last week, I had been using one successfully for 4 years with no issues. Then I get run into by an inattentive taxi driver, as my video only showed the road ahead as it recorded the audible crunch and front view shook (I was hit in the rear!). So, I'm now upgrading to a twin DVR that records BOTH front and back - and he cost is the same.

You just never know when you'll need it!

    Hi,
    quick update,
I recieved a letter today saying that my insurers sent me a letter on 28th june to say they had settled the claim, which i did not ever recieve and they have retrospectively asked for documentation but as i said it was my fault(not what i said,i said i didnt believe i touched him but there was a tiny graze on his bumper).
they acknowledge they have failed in their duty of care and are sending a cheque for £50,and that in their experience their policyholders want little or no contact regarding a third party claim they are at fault for:mad:
Whilst i am happy they are now looking into it,i wish they understood this is not about the money, its about someone, somewhere just being allowed to charge/claim over £800 of repairs for nothing,
anyway I would like to thank Jamie at Hastings Direct for his help, good to know they have at least one good member of staff and thanks to everyone who replied to me,
    Charlie.
  • Thanks for the update Charlie, I will ensure that what you have requested is completed. I understand your frustrations and I will giving your feedback to the relevant areas of the business so that this kind of incident can be avoided in future. Thanks, Jamie
