I buy large sacks of onions and hang the net bag full in a cool airy old coal store . They last for months with only about 5% wastage which is less than you would get storing in your kitchen .
  • If this is the offer at my local then I am disappointed. I was hoping for a half decent meat offer as they have been pretty rubbish the last few weeks.

The cheese is a good deal, it works out at just £2.45/kg. What on earth would you do with 11lb of onions....:think::think:?

I guess it might mean french onion soup for a while :D
Hello, I bought them 4 weeks ago and have used maybe 1/4, but the rest of the bag is all still fine ( cold kitchen! ) so should last another couple of months. Maybe you could split a bag with a friend or two? Much cheaper than buying 1kg at a time!

    Mince would be nice!!

I may get a couple of packs of the hula hoops, we don't have those very often. I've got lots of onions left forms when I bought a 5kg pack a few weeks ago. May be chopping them up soon and freezing them.

Tesco have a good mince offer on but it is only until the 20th (Tue).

Half price Steak mince, 750g £2.57 ie £3.43 a kilo and it is less than 12% fat.

Onions keep for ages anyway. One fo those bags lasts me about 6 weeks and they are always fine all that time.

Lidl need to pull their finger out with these offers - I shop at aldi mmost of the time and only bother with llidl when the offers are good and do the rest of my shopping there at teh same time. I haven't been bothering recently!

  • If I have an excess of onions(or peppers or chilli's for that matter) I chop with some garlic and put into ice cube trays, add water and freeze. You can take out and pop into a freezer bag once frozen. There are so many recipes which start off with a base of onions and garlic.
they are really handy you don't even need to defrost just pop into a pan with the meat.
