Can't do balance transfer

I have a Barclaycard with 2k debt. Unfortunately I am now paying very high interest and wish to do a balance transfer. I have tried 2 applications(Tesco and Nat West) rejected by both. My monthly income is low but my husbands is high.

Any suggestions on how to proceed please?

    1. Ask Tesco & NatWest why they rejected you.
    2. View your credit file, looking for reasons as to why Tesco & NatWest may have rejected you.
    3. Ask Hubby if he'll BT the debt to a card in his name.

Sorry to appear so dim but if he gets the card in his name can I transfer the balance which, obviously is in my name?

No you can't, but he can.

I wouldn't have suggested it if it wasn't possible. He shouldn't volunteer it's not his debt though (because some lenders won't allow it), but he shouldn't lie if asked directly. For that reason he may wish to conduct business online, rather than via telephone.
  • If you don't have your bank account with Barclays, try your own bank, they often rate you on your account and not just your credit file.

Thank You most helpful. I don't think I've got a poor credit rating but my salary is pitifully low. Maybe that has something to do with it? Still Barclays were more than happy to throw money at me for years.
