Car insurance/medical licence date question

Hi,
This is my first post here, was hoping someone could help me. I'm 23 and passed my test in 2007, but have a medical condition which only allows me to have a 3 year restricted licence. When my first licence ran out in 2010 I did not get it renewed from the DVLA.
However I had to get it renewed this year due to needing to drive again. I've been trying to get quotes for insurance and using places like comparethemarket etc but they have the question 'For how long have you had your license?' I am unsure whether to enter 2007 or 2012 as they give me very different quote prices obviously. On my counterpart licence it gives my entitlement dates as 2007-2015, which makes me think I can put 2007 but am unsure.
Any help would be great, thanks in advance

'How long have you held a licence' normally has the same meaning as 'When did you pass your test'. Which in your case is 2007. OK, so you haven't been driving for all of that time - but that could be the case for anyone, for lots of different reasons. So I think a good case could be made for answering the question with 2007 - but to be sure, you could just ring one of the companies and discuss it with them. They have nothing to gain by giving you the wrong information, and that way you would know exactly where you stood.

I would phone them up. You will probably need to declare the health issues anyway. So best to phone them and get it all fone properly.
