Forgot to return item recorded

Now seller is saying they haven't received it (yeah right).

Can I claim this back from the royal mail, as technically this is lost. How do I prove value?

Or have I made a big error and going to be out of pocket on this? The item is a cd and bought for a tenner.

Yes, always get POP, but concerned about proving proof of value.

Should I open a case with ebay?

You are fine claiming just once, the proof of posting is enough so long as you arent running a business. You will have to wait a while and obviously if it is fraud the other guy better watch out

Things do go missing sometimes - you can't assume that you have a lying buyer as there is no way you can tell.

A mighty coincidence though since the seller was reluctant to take the item back, no?

I'd like to know some stats on how much mail goes missing, I'm sure I'm way above average on cds/dvds/games.
