How do I cancel Sky when I cant get through?

Options
Apologies is this isnt the right place for this but am getting desperate!

Partner and I are splitting and he is rarely in the house and indeed is packing to move. We cannot get through to Sky to cancel the package (in his name) and of course I want this done and sorted by the time he leaves in a couple of weeks.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Could be a future headache if they stipulate a notification requirement for cancellation in the contract. Sky may not actually cancel the subscription and simply send a bill, and then reminders and then debt recovery etc etc.

Actually thinking about it you must have a contract with cancellation details on there. At worst you could send them a letter (recorded/trackable) to cancel immediately.

  • The contract I have has a little tear off slip you fill in and send them if you wish to cancel the contract :)

I telephoned and told them I wanted to cancel, after getting passed around and left on hold (on their premium charge number!) I cancelled my DD and have received letters from their debt collectors. I don't feel inclined to pay them and will argue it out in court.

I suggest you write to them and then cancel DD. Keep a copy of your correspondence.

As the contract is in his name, it is not your problem

Exactly what I suspected might happen. It's just down to whether you want the hassle or not.

  • I have a copy of the "Cancellation Form" in front of me. Its a template form with my account number printed in the relevant parts. At the bottom is a tear off slip. You fill in the installation no, tick what your cancelling (so sky digital subscription contract in this case), sign, date and send off.

It would appear you can get them from ANY sky sales advisor (they have them in packs) that appear in shopping centers etc.. so that might be a good start. Send one of them off, cancel the DD, document/photocopy it all, and enjoy :p

How long have you had it?

Did you enter into a 12 Month contract? that could cause complications if you want to end within the minimum term.

It wouldnt be advisable to stop the DD if you are inside the minimum contract term.

If you are outside, cancel it and argue.

I had my contract more than 12 months. To give you the abreviated version of a very long story:

After moving house I phoned "I would like to cancel because Sky + will not work with communal aerial". We shall send an engineer. OK says me. Engineer "Sky+ will not work with communal aerial". Phone Sky "I would like to cancel because Sky + will not work with communal aerial". We shall give you 3 months for free, then reduce your subscrition. OK says me. Next month still being charged. Phone Sky "I would like to cancel because Sky + will not work with communal aerial". So sorry we shall give you ........ Then I cancelled DD.

I will see them in court before I pay them another penny!
