Hanging curtains at different sized windows

Options
In our living room we have two windows on adjacent walls. One is tall and goes right up to the ceiling. The other is smaller and is in the middle of the wall height. At the moment the curtain poles are at the same height and the curtains are the same length so the small window looks a bit stupid to be honest. We're in the process of replastering and I've bought curtains to fit the window sizes - so they're different widths and lengths. Now I'm worried that if I hang the poles at different heights it will look terrible. Any advice???

  • I would perhaps have curtains on the large window and fit a roman blind on the smaller window, at least then it won't look like you're trying to make them match.

Or another option might be to fit full length curtains on both but use a ceiling mounted track instead of a curtain pole so that the curtains are floor to ceiling, this means you won't end up having a pole above the window emphasing the difference in the gaps above them both. If that makes sense! :)
  • I'm inclined to agree with Minnie - I think I would consider a matching roman blind or similar on the smaller window.
