What Would You Do?

Hi
I purchased a set of 12 used books a week ago, the listing described the books as "in really good condition" and said that the buyer would be happy with them. On receipt of the books however there was a note with the books which stated that some had some damage include a page ripped out, others had names written inside the books; none of which was mentioned on the listing. The seller has included some other books which he hoped would make up for the damage on the others, but they are not books I would particularly want.
Not sure what to do, what would you do?

Ask to send them back for a full refund. Then use a good courier with tracking and return them once seller says OK. If seller refuses a return open a SNAD case.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you're happy to keep the books in the condition they're in I would ask for a partial refund based on what you may have been prepared to pay for them if they'd been described correctly. If you're not happy to keep them then I would follow Soolin's advice and also ask for the return postage to be paid although the seller can't be forced to refund this.0

Bear in mind, though you can reclaim the entire cost of the purchase, you are unlikely to receive the return postage costs, so you'll recoup the initial cost minus return postage fees.
If a large proportion of the purchase price was postage costs, you may consider that it's not worth returning the books, for the sake of a small net refund."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.
