Lovefilm connection to TV & Xbox

Options
Got Lovefilm last night and it is working fine on the laptop with no problems.

Xbox connection - we are currently using a 14 day trial for gold live which is working fine for playing games and speaking to people (the yearly one ran out the other day). When we try to get the Lovefilm app it keeps saying that we need to have xbox gold live. Do we need the 'proper' gold live or are we doing something wrong?

TV connection - we have sky tv but not sky broadband. Does the laptop need to be connected to the tv to watch stuff? (Xbox is on another TV.) It is an older Philips HD ready tv with scart sockets. Philips is not one of the ones on the Lovefilm list which I assume are tvs that can connect to the internet directly.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

To watch something from your laptop on the tv then yes, you have to connect laptop to tv.
