OP, I know you love the house, but do you really want to deal with this guy who has changed his mind for no good reason after accepting an offer from you?
Even if you get him to accept the £275k offer again, he won't be happy about it and will not care about the state that the property is left in.0 -
Sounds like a nightmare!
I am no expert, by my personal feeling would be if I were in your position, is that I would not trust him at all now. And, as mentioned above, what's to say that he's not pull the same stunt after you'd paid put for surveys etc.
If I were you I'd start looking at alternatives - ask his EA to show you other properties on the books as well.
I don't envy your predicament.0 -
Did the developer accept £275k I did not read that he had at all.
Why do the prospective buyers seem to think their offer has to be accepted on their terms. The developer had already begun his refurbishment and as far as I can see was continuing to do so.
Also who cares if the EA gets angry during their viewing - the Vendor was not quick to accept the £285k offer, which indicated his reluctance to accept.0 -
Just wanted to say I would walk away. You will look back one day and realise that was the right thing to do.
Good luck.If you change nothing, nothing will change!!0 -

How long has the current owner owned it?This means that the current vendor must have owned the property for at least six months before we can accept an application to purchase that property.
Clip from Halifax criteria mirrored by many lenders.
Is this "renovation" likely to make it a "newbuild" from a lender's perspective?
Halifax again. Implication here is a lower maximum loan to value than for "normal" property.Refurbished property i.e. refurbishment of an existing residential property, typically a re-furbished property will be considered as initial occupancy where the vendor is a builder/developer and the property has been vacated to allow for the refurbishment to be undertaken.I am a mortgage broker.
