Where did you/she buy it?0

she brought it from currys0

Is there a chance she could have tipped a drink over it? It's not too common for both keyboard and mouse to stop working unless there is liquid damage causing both.
I'm not saying it's 100% though they can both fail just not very often. I'm pretty sure they will exchange it if it's faulty it's something like in the first 28 days it's exchanged or after that it's sent for repair.0 -
no nothing spilt on it looks just how it did once took it from box still got plastic on it.0

Probably the best thing to try is to restore it back to factory settings and then see if it's okay. (you should do this before returning the laptop anyway).
This will determine if it's a software fault, possibly caused by something that's been installed since purchase.0 -

What do you mean that the mouse pad and keypad are playing up?
It might be worth posting over on the techie board describing the problem/what happens with as much detail as possible. If it wasnt present from purchase, there is a chance software is causing it.
A few of our regulars work with currys so they may be able to give you more accurate information but I think one of them said within 28 days, curry usually replace. If the fault occurred after the first 28 days, currys usually send it for repair.
You could technically fight for a refund. But if all your daughter wants is a working laptop, it may be easier just to accept a repair/replacement.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
If it always did it AND you can demonstrate it to Currys/PcWorld's KnowHow staff then you can choose from a Replacement or Refund within 21 days, Exchange/Replacement if over 21 days and under 29 days and anything from day 29 (from when you received it) will be a repair.
It's worthwhile restoring the system back to factory settings to see if it was a software issue you've had (a Destructive system restore fixes this) or if it's a hardware fault.
If it's a intermittent fault you may have to leave it with the KnowHow staff so they can see it being faulty.
(If it's a Sony, do the Vaio updates first, there are some known software problems)
Unfortunately without more information I cannot give you anymore specifics on your case and only general returns processes.0 -
thanks hopefully they will replace it as its really bugging her0
