Totally Incompetent Couriers

Two different couriers cocked up in one day! How many Christmases are they going to ruin again this year I wonder?

Email this morning from Apple : 'We are sorry you weren't in to receive your delivery yesterday. Kindly contact TNT to rearrange redelivery'. WHAT? Firstly, there were 3 of us at home all day (me, my PA, & the cleaner) yesterday. Secondly, there were two workmen repointing the driveway to the house all day yesterday. Thirdly, I have guard dogs who certainly would have made it known there was an approaching vehicle. Fourth, the driveway is monitored by CCTV and no TNT vehicle was logged through the gates, and fifth, no 'sorry we missed you' card was left. So, in fact, they didn't have a failed delivery - they just didn't bother to call at all. I phoned and passed on this information and just got a general 'We are sorry you have experienced these problems - will someone be home for redelivery on Tuesday?' !

I then get a call from a neighbour asking if I'm expecting a delivery as he noticed that when pulling through his gates there was a large box just behind his hedge. He got out and looked at it and it was a large parcel addressed (correctly) to me but left behind his hedge, 2 properties away! The properties have all got the addresses clearly displayed on the gate posts but obviously those employed by Parcelforce arnt able to - a. read or b. define the difference between a hedge and a front door.

    I feel your pain!

I had a huge saga trying to get a delivery a few years back as couriers consistently delivered to X COURT instead of X ROAD (package was labelled correctly) - and the X COURT property had a massive street sign next to their front gate!

It REALLY is about time online retailers started considering a proper system for getting the stuff they want us to buy to us.

IMO one of the major problems with shopping online is getting your hands on what you've bought in good condition and in a timely manner.

So delivery timeslots would help (in fact, lets start with getting the DAY of delivery sorted); maybe TEXTING us to tell us our item is on the van and will be delivered between...

  • I have had problems with APLE myself these past few days.

Waited in all day yesterday for a delivery of a DVD from them. Only to get an email notification of a failed delivery and they'll try again tomorrow (now today)...
Well... I was in ALL DAY and they didn't ring the bell. Nor did they leave a card, which they should have done according to Amazon, who I ordered from. This screams "I drove around for 30 seconds, couldn't see your block of flats right off, so gave up!"

This morning I have stuck signs on both external doors to my block of flats instructing them to RING THE BUZZER.

If they fail again, I shall be instructing Amazon to cancel the order, and they can deal with getting the DVD returned to them that must be floating around in a van somewhere. And I shall just go to the supermarket for the DVD, which perhaps I should have done in the first place.

Avoid APLE couriers if you possibly can!
