Bricked Back Yard & waterproofing?

In our back yard the floor is made out of bricks

now they're always covered in algae and moss and I have to brush them clean and use algon on at least once a year

now speaking to our landlord he says he used the bricks from the outhouses to do the floor and I'm guessing this means they're more porous than bricks designed for the purpose

is there anything I can brush on them to stop them being so wet all the time? I'd rther do that than re-do the whole thing with new bricks!

Is the water there from rain or is it soaking up through the bricks from soil beneath? Are the bricks laid on sand or concrete?
  • more porous than bricks designed for the purpose

Yeah that's probably part of the reason

More likely the bricks are laid TOO LEVEL bricks or paviours must be laid with a Fall ( small incline ) away from the property, that helps to keep them clean.
