If you lost it before they went XD on the 19th of Sept, then I know where your money is. :D

I have my doubts regards their business model, but that's my mental wrangle as said model has been paying rising dividends for many a year.

However, I draw the line at ICAP as I ain't got a clue what they do!
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Yes, new holdings in Reckitt Benckiser and Greene King plus a top-up of Balfour Beatty. I'm well romantic, I am.

Just had a quick look over IGG, dividend yield of just over 5% and a PE of 9 and a bit. Think I'll have a proper research tomorrow ;)

OP. I'd buy £500 IGG and spend the rest on a nice necklace for the woman in your life and a bottle of Krug. That's what I'd do, not advice! :D

'tis true, and particularly as *all* of our unwrapped holdings are in her name.

Maybe the fact that's all in online dealing accounts to which she doesn't know the passwords might diminish the twinkle, but I have tried to get her to engage more ...

Oh, and if you go for diamonds, I've used Purely Diamonds (http://www.purelydiamonds.co.uk) to solve the present issues for wife, daughter, nieces, etc. for many a year..

I'm tempted into the world of Spead betting (IG Index et. al) but am fairly new to this, whilst I understand the principles and the markets to a degree, i'm not really clear about the charging structure in place.

Does anyone out there have any sage advice?

    Thanks, Mr. O

    Sage advice: don't do it.

Take a cold shower then invest your £1K in an index tracker unit trust.

If you ignore the sage advice and have a go at spread betting, perhaps you'd post again when you've lost your £1K and tell us how long it took.

There isnt much to say, its a form of money lending. It can be a cheap way to buy shares short term as the commission is zero

1k is a minuscule amount but its possible to gain if you bet very small. These firm profit from volatility so I have written down IGG as a reminder to look at next week. ICAP also run one of these but in the minority, they are a giant corporate dealer for various securities.
Another one was WSPR who went broke in March, bad capital management which is ironic

I can refer the OP and advise on using the very smallest firm which is best on 1k.
You could just a read book by Robbie Burns on this kind of thing

Im currently waiting for the FSCS to return my balance from WS, shouldnt be long I hope :o
