car trouble

Need some advice bought a second hand car end of sept, came with 12 month mot and service. Two weeks later noise developed under car went back to them, sent to garage to get it checked told it wass engine mount and car was ok to drive they said they would contact dealer re getting it sorted. No calls from him I had to chase him to find out what was to happen. Then about 1 week later the driver side wheel falls off!! Luckily was going real slow at the time. Contacts dealer who gets it towed to garage, who does his work. I spend the next week phoning to find out what happening. they put spare on and new wing, i phones dealer again to see when wing is to be sprayed. He is rude! Says its not his fault and spray guy is on hols. Give him 2 weeks to sort it. In mean time get car checked by another mechanic problem with exhaust and says he should get alloy put back on. Went today at first he organises re spray but backs down when i bring up other issues ands mention trading standards. Says its not his fault wheel fell off. and is now not doing any work on car as not covered by warranty. ADVICE NEEDED What do I do next?

Were you being petty with the other issues?

What was the issue with the wheel falling off? Balljoint or suspension failure or lack of wheel nuts?

    What car is it? Make/Model/Age?
Whats the mileage and how much did you pay?

    What do you want done?

This mechanic that says the exhaust is faulty was he trying to sell you one? Or is he impartial?

If he is telling you to goto the trading standards it maybe because your being overly fussy.

    Or maybe he doesnt care?

  • the mechanic who checked it was impartial, said the prob with exhaust should have been picked up when mot done. Only got it checked because didn't fell confident after being messed about. Have still not recieved documentation for the car either.Wasn't told why the wheel felll off. One nut was missing and rest shorn through. Renault megane 04 paid £2195 for it.
I don't think its unreasonable to expect a car that has just been mot'd as road worthy and under warranty to be fixed.

MOT was september though. Exhaust issue may have developed since.

Expect it to be fixed would depend on what the fault was. Some dealers are better than others. If you are unreasonable then they can also be.

I wouldnt drive a car thats had a wheel fall off without wanting to know all the details.

What faults have you told them you want fixing?
