How do I avoid getting stars? (DSR)

I'm an infrequent ebayer.
I don't particularly want to get those DSR stars that sellers have, I just want to sell the odd thing here and there without having to worry about keeping up ratings.
I can't find any info on ebay (although I realise it will be there somewhere) about when these stars first appear on your account.
Can anyone advise please?

Thank you but (I think?) that just tells you about them once you have them iyswim?
I want to know when they appear for the first time, what triggers their appearance.Herman - MP for all!0 -
After 10 buyers have left them. So you can't avoid them.0

Though they only show up after 10 ratings, the average rating exists as soon as the first feedback score is left.
I don't think there is any way to 'opt out' of getting seller ratings, in the same way that it isn't possible to 'opt out' of receiving feedback.
If it was possible to opt out of feedback and DSRs, can you imagine how many poor and crooked sellers would jump at the chance to hide their failures and continue to operate without any sign of a problem?"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

It does part way down under the heading
How detailed seller ratings are calculated
Average ratings are calculated on a rolling 12-month basis and only appear when at least 10 ratings have been received.0 -

It must be over a particular set time though?
I've had 52 buyers spread over the years, I don't have stars.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I've had more than 10 buyers in a 12 month period. All of whom left positive feedback. :huh:Herman - MP for all!0 -

That happens sometimes. I recently looked at the feedback of a seller who'd had dozens of feedback ratings within the past year but no stars showing, just the infobox that says the star ratings will be displayed when they reach 10.0
