Colouring Grout?

I am re-doing my kitchen and using grey and black tiles on part of the wall. I would ideally like to use grey or black grout. I am not sure if you can buy grout these colours or have a feeling if you can they will be a lot more expensive than white grout!

So my question is ... is there a way to colour white grout - ie adding paint or dye etc?

I would appreciate any help - thanks in advance!!

If you buy normal white powdered grout, then go to a Builders Merchants and buy a tub of cement dye powder. Costs about £5 a pot and will be ample for what you want. They sell it in all colours including black. just mix it with the grout and there you have it.

You can buy additives to colour grout or ready coloured grout in a variety of colours. Go to B&Q or any tile shop.

We used grey grout in our kitchen, it wasn't anymore expensive than the white grout. We have just done the bathroom tiles with sandstone grout too, you can use floor tile grout too, it seems to come in more colours.

You might like to try try Screwfix?

I think you will find some floor tile grout is a coarser mix than wall tile grout

Hi, we used white grout/adhesive to stick our tiles on and then grouted with black. A small tub was 8.98 in B&Q and seemed to go a long way. It seemed a lot messier than white and you have to do a really good job as the contrast between black grout and white tiles stands out.

This is one DIY job that made Mrs V cry... & made me feel sorry for her too!!

Years ago, on our second house, in the bathroom, she had this 'great' idea to colour the grout red - thanks home improvement mags of those days - she'd spent nearlty all day, while I was at work, colouring in the tiles &.....

It looked HORRID & she burst into tears, as soon as I saw it & I hadn't even started to say how bad it looked!!

Unless it was crafty female intuition & her way to stop me losing my rag...the one I needed to clean it all off!!

We'll stuck to white since then!!
