  • I decided to stop using ebay a few years back as I was listing items that were not selling.

Then along came the 'fortnightly' free listings.

I just photo 100 items that I don't really use and quite a lot of them sell. My prices are pretty high, as I'm not really bothered if anything sells.

Keep getting emails from numpties with snide comments about how expensive my items are.

Never understood that. Used to happen to me quite often. Who has time to look through Ebay for items that are dear and then tell the seller something they already know?

Last time i got an Email saying "i'm not happy with your prices - they are cheaper in Argos". I said "i know - where do you think i get em from you idiot - now move on and get a life".

He said he was blocking me. :rotfl:

Just a reminder that anything listed today for 30 days will finish on the 18th December which is getting quite close to Christmas. If using a courier you might already be out of time to ship something for a guaranteed Christmas delivery as many couriers extend their delivery times over the Christmas period.

Royal Mail last posting dates are

obviously most things wil sell earlier than that if they re going to sell, but it is worth considering when listing. There is nothing to stop you though pulling BIN auctions in last week if you don't want to risk it.

lastly, Porto Bello's idea of making sure you use 'immediate payment required' is a good one. Just remember it doesn't work if you have enabled Best offer and accept an offer.

There are buyers out there, I haven't listed much but have already made 2 sales.

I've got a weird situation! I relisted everything that has previously failed to sell, as buy it nows... sold one within a few hours, then saw 3 more sell in quick succession - great!

The funny thing is that the last three have been knocking about for (literally) years! I kept simply relisting on each free listing day, simply to avoid chucking them out... then suddenly all 3 of my 'ancient' items are purchased and paid for within no time!

It seems to be the impulse items that do especially well as buy it nows. Anything below a tenner seems to easily pick up viewers and watchers like never before.

    It is odd isn't it?

on my business account I use a mixture of BINs and auctions and some things sell better at auction and others at BIN. I rarely ever use BINs on my private account- so I am interested to see if it makes a difference.

I bought a few bits last night purely on impulse though as I was browsing BIN 'newly listed' in the categories I like and found some things that I probably wouldn't really have bothered with if they were auctions.

Gosh I am a great fan of these BIN auctions- my [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] valuable household object d'art are flying out. If they do it again I may have to get another box down from the loft.
