Security Lighting

Hi,
Can anyone reccommend a good security light with motion sensor. I bought 2 just 2 months ago from B&Q and one has broken already. it's not the bulb and everything else has been checked so it's the light thats gone. It is on a sensor and goes on everytime a large vehicle goes past, which is quite a lot as I live close to a main road and the vibrations set it off, but the one round the back doesn't go on as much so that's OK for now, so i need a decently priced one, which hopefully would be easy enough to install.
I need one as soon as I can as I'm sick and tired of the crime around here and the lights hopefully put some of the criminals off. I can get to a B&Q, Argos, Homebase and a wickes if anyone has had a good experience with any of their products as the reviews for lights on their websites are pretty sparse.
Thanks
Wuzz

If one has broken within 2 months, take it back to b&Q and get a recommendation from them.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
As above, take it back if it's faulty. Just a thought - the sensor on mine is adjustable for sensitivity and needed setting up when I installed it, so it came on when someone/thing gets close enough to it?0

The cheaper lights in Wickes , Homebase , Argos and Aldi appear to be identical and my guess is that they are churned out in the far east and badged for each retailer.
As you say that the front light does work, you could try moving the PIR (sensor) to point downwards to see if that resolves the problem. No tools are needed ; just move it by hand.
If that doesn't work , if you can arrange it for little or no cost, could you fit the back light at the front to see if that one works ok?Forgotten but not gone.0 -
Vibration should not set these off. It may be ponting to close to road thus catching large vehicles. As other poster has advised more likely needs to be adjusted down to front path etc and sensitivity set.

If the sensor is working but is just too sensitive or capturing too large an area put some insulation tape over part of it to narrow it's field of view.0
