Help.. Missed payment!

Hi all, recently I have been using my credit card to buy things due to the safety net when buying over the Internet. I always pay it off in full each month when I do spend on there. However over the last three months I have not had a statement in the post, and today I had horrible thought I have not seen any statement, and I must be due to pay it off. After phoning I had a Shock that it should have been paid on the 9th!

The lady on the phone was nice and said she can see that I have been a good user over the last few years, never missing a payment and would wave the late payment charge. However I asked if it woud go on my credit file, which she replied no. Is this true? As Sod's law I'm looking at getting a new mortgage in few weeks. I have never missed a payment before in my life, so was horrified at this.

I'd expect it o show on your credit file - the nearness to due date may save.

    Direct debit time!

It depends who the lender is however some of them have a 7 day grace before it reports in a negative way.

It could easily happen again, set up a direct debit to pay off in full each month then yu can just relax and forget about it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I would wait for the lender to update your file then explore your options from there.

Experian uses a complicated formula for calculating your credit score. The late payment WILL lower your score, just apply the following formula:

999 - ( number of days payment late + your house number / total amount of loose change down the back of your sofa (£) )

To be honest, if you don't have a credit score of 999 there's an issue of some sort.

But there's a random number generator involved to get any other number as well!

Don't get hung up on the score. Be aware of the nasties reported against you. You're unlikely to get them changed if they are factual.

It's my opinion (but note not from any knowledge of mortgage companies' lending criteria) that a single late payment to a credit card would not prevent you getting a mortgage.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
