Amazon Marketplace - one seller with two or more accounts

Hello!

I want to buy two books from Amazon Marketplace. I noticed that the same three sellers have the same two books for the same prices, so I emailed them to ask if they'd reduce the postage if I bought both from them (there's no harm in asking!).

The first seller replied (actually replied with the same template email four times for some reason) saying they don't, which is fair enough. But then some time later the second seller replied, and it was the same template email! It was the same seller, same postal address, but they just used username1@somebookshop.com or username2@somebookshop.com. (I wouldn't be surprised if the third seller replies with the same template from username3@somebookshop.com...)

Are they allowed to list the same books more than once under different usernames? I don't think it's very fair, it means get more listings showing up for what is essentially the same listing twice, and isn't fair to the non-pro seller.

What do you think? Should I report them? (And if so, how?)

I have just started using a slightly different type of selling account on Amazon but for some technical reasons that Amazon are sorting out I was running two for a fortnight.

Needless to say Sentinel have been on to me and told me to stop. I have stopped using the new one whilst amazon sort out the issues.

I would report them if I were you.

Yup report them, they keep clogging up the page where my listings are !!

OK, I'll report them. I've still not received a reply from the third seller, but have just noticed that that username is the domain name of the two above! (e.g. "somebookshop1")

So do I just email sentinel@amazon.com with the details?

I'll still probably buy from them as they're the cheapest. Actually, it's interesting to see that the first two both claim to dispatch from the UK, and the third claims to dispatch from NJ, US.

No change it to .co.uk and not .com.

there is one seller I am aware of that opreates 3 seller accounts due to the fact that they operate from 3 different bricks and mortar bookstores, i think the name is something like "bookends wh", "bookends2" & "bookends3" (also just noticed a "bookendshay1" join this little family!) this is permitted, I think, but usually sentinel will come down like a ton of bricks on individual sellers that do this sort of thing just to gain more visibility in listings.

The amusing (or not) thing about the example I gave is that this seller is constantly undercutting the prices of their other branches!
