How long does it take to get a copy of medical records?

I had an appointment with my orthopedic consultant a couple of days ago and would like a copy of the report for my esa claim
Does anybody know how long it takes to get a copy of your medical records? my esa50 is due back in 3 weeks will i be able to get copies before then?

Reports can take up to 2 weeks to be typed up by the secretary, sometimes longer, then back to the consultant to sign. You would be best to contact the secretary and ask her if she can get it for you any quicker.0

Thanks for that, i will give his secretary a call then, He spoke everything into a Dictaphone so yeah i didn't think about the secretary having to type it up etc.0

Make sure you get your ESA50 in on time and, if neccessary, send the hospital letter on afterwards.0

Both I and separately my wife have been to the hospital as an in or out patient many times this year and have needed to also get my hands on copy records for me for DLA claims. It has taken between 2 weeks from one department to six weeks from another so don't hold your breath but good luck.
I chased but felt the system was the system and it wasn't/isn't easy to beat.0 -

Makes you wonder why the government changed the time to 4 weeks when they knew full well drs letters can take up to 6 weeks and sometimes longer. Yet another joke from this lot.:(0
