IE stops working

Can anyone tell me why Internet Explorer stops working on my friend's computer. He's running Vista.

Any clues would be appreciated.

From what you've said, it could be anything. But you haven't said very much ;)

More details will help us narrow it down! EG what is your friend doing when IE crashes? Is there a particular website that does it? Or clicking on a particular button? Does it show an error message on the screen?

Or are you saying that after some time he can't browse anymore, like the connection has dropped?

If it has just started, try a system restore.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • Hi All

I got it wrong - i'ts Windows Explorer on Vista Ultimate which is the problem.

    Quote from friend:

"prob occurs if pc is left running but idle for any length of time, when i come back to it every thing is frozen and i get the message (windows explorer has stopped working windows is seeking a solution) but i have to reboot the pc.

All the updates are done automatically by Vista."

    Hope you can help.

suggests it may be a 3rd party Explorer extension causing the problem.

    Hi

No, it happens when it is just left - sometimes only for an hour.

    Thanks
