Thunderbird Duplicate Remover

I have a large number of "duplicate" emails in my Thunderbird Sent folder (caused by a back up and restore from a 2nd PC)
When I try running the downloaded duplicate remover - I get an error message "NOT SEARCHING SPECIAL FOLDERS"
Has anyone else found this and is there a cure ?
Bear in mind that I have over 5000 emails in that folder - manual deletion is not possible
