Purchasing a car during divorce

I'm currently going through a divorce, however I now need to purchase a car.If I buy a car and use a personal loan to buy this, will this be seen as an asset?
Or if I purchase the car using car using finance/HP is this different in that she cannot make a claim on the car.
I'm interested in buying a car for commuting to work/essential and am not after anything fancy just something economical

If you buy something at say £5k to replace like with like type of car, to enable you to get to work because your current car is uneconomical/too costly to run then I think any judge would see that as reasonable. Whereas if you spent say £20k plus on a new car then I think your OH's solicitors would be looking to get an equivalent amount of money out of the division of the marital assets.0

If you are buying an asset with a loan surely the two cancel each other out, £5k asset, £5k debt + interest.
If she was going after the car then she would have to agree to going halves on the loan that you got to purchase it and since that would include interest it wouldn't be a good idea!
The flip side of that being you wouldn't be expecting her to pick up the tab for the interest on your car.If I cut you out of my life I can guarantee you handed me the scissors0
