Insurance claim for mobile

My son has a policy with Endsleigh, to which he has added special cover for an Iphone 3gs.

He upgraded about 1 year ago to an Iphone 4s.

You can guess the question, I'm sure. He's damaged the new phone and wants to claim. Am I right in assuming Endsleigh will turn it down as he didn't tell them he'd upgraded?

Any advice?

    No idea really, he needs to read the terms and conditions in the policy.

    Is the cover specific to the one phone (iPhone 3) or generic to cover any phone to a certain value?

    Check the policy to see if cover for the new phone is in place before speaking to endsleigh. Once the damage to the phone gets mentioned to them then it will be recorded and he will have to disclose it in future to other insurers he approaches for cover irrespective of whether or not they allow the claim.
